In the primary analysis, 2,962 (3.46%) children born to mothers who filled an opioid prescription were hospitalized, compared to 3,038 (3.55%) children born to mothers who did not receive an opioid. The median age was 32 years, 60.3% were primigravid, and 80.8% underwent cesarean delivery. Results: We studied 85,675 women who filled an opioid prescription within seven days of hospital discharge after delivery and 85,675 women who did not.
